Who We Are

About Us

RossManning  - Technical Director

The engineering team is led by Ross Manning who has come through the ranks of project delivery as an electrical engineer and has been heading engineering delivery across the disciplines for the last 8 years as a member of a large engineering company EXCO, giving him an extensive understanding of all engineering and drawing office deliverables from a highly practical and cost effective perspective. Having completed the execution of 25 metallurgical plants, building these from green-field start to final commissioning. Ross’s insight into the design process is unparalleled and his experience turns plant layout into an art form. Ross’s experience ranges from marine wharf expansion through brown-field plant expansions to green-field 10 million tonne per annum copper and gold plants.  He has built plants for both junior miners, start ups and blue chip majors.

JohnEdwards  -  Chief Metallurgist - Director

Metallurgical input is provided by John Edwards who has a Metallurgical honours degree and an MBL and has over 32 years of metallurgical experience. This includes 18 years’ experience in plant operational management as well as client based project management for major mining houses. He also has over 24 years in a construction environment where he has completed all level of studies from construction through to commissioning. His responsibilities cover managing and directing all process designs while he still has significant hands on responsibility to assist clients, optimise plants and provide specific assistance on operational problems. John has handled projects from very small pilot-plants, (20kt/m) for junior mining houses through to large plants (12 Mt/a , 14Mw mills) for tier 1 mining houses. John’s  experience includes underground, open pit & re-mined ore systems with numerous process recovery systems.  These include scrubbing, crushing, agglomeration, various milling options, HPGR, heap leaching, DMS, gravity, flotation, cyanidation, leaching, carbon in pulp, CIS, ILR’s, AARL & Zadra elutions, Meryl Crowe, IX and SX and many forms of detoxification systems as well as various x-ray based sorting plant designs. Commodity experience includes gold, chromite, PGM’s, uranium, diamonds, zinc, copper and andalusite  makes him unequalled in this space on the continent. This along with his delivery of some “unusual” commodity plants means John gives this team a very rounded and broad base of metallurgical understanding.

NickTatalias  -  Managing Director

The group is headed by Nick Tatalias a metallurgist whose 29-year track record in the project environment as well as mine management gives the client confidence that their projects will be delivered in alignment with both client goals and fast track project goals. Nick has gathered project experience from a number of project houses building and commissioning projects in both mineral processing and hydro-metallurgical fields. Nick was head of Metallurgy for Africa and DRC West operations while at ENRC, a FTSE top 100 company, that delivered metallurgical projects at Chambishi Metals (Zambia), Frontier Mine (DRC), Boss Mining (DRC), as well as heading the green-field mine and plant start up at Comidé (DRC). Sunsequently Nick was on the EXCO of MDM an EPC(M) project house which delivered projects at Parral (Mexico),  and Culinan (South Africa) and feasibility studies for Panda Hill Niobium (Tanzania) and Berkeley Energia Uranium (Spain) prior to starting METC.  This gives Nick a unique balance of client (mining house) and project house understanding, bringing a client’s view and perspective for delivery of projects.
